Happy to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the school, the Naval Academy held a school celebration yesterday, presided over by Admiral Tang Hua, Commander of the Navy, and invited past presidents, alumni, and family members of students to join in the festivities, Kaohsiung City Vice Mayor Li Huairen, and other guests and representatives of the authorities attended the ceremony to celebrate the birthday of the Navy officers; in the ceremony, Commander Tang, along with past presidents of the school to read the student units, each company of the inspection of the marching band, with the same high morale and high spirits, passed through the commanding officer's platform in a neat and united march, showing that the students are civilized and military qualities, won the applause of guests and parents and affirmation. First of all, Commander Tang congratulated the Alma Mater on its birthday and said that on June 16, R.O.C. 35, the government of the People's Republic of China established the Naval Academy in Shanghai, and in response to changes in the situation, the school was relocated from Shanghai to Qingdao in R.O.C. 36, and then moved to Xiamen in R.O.C. 38, and finally took root in the land of Zuoying in September R.O.C. 38 to build up the present Naval Academy.
Commander Tang also said that the Navy is made up of “ships”, and the English term with the root word SHIP can be divided into four categories, namely, the balance or conditions of composition, status, position or honor, a certain skill or ability, and the collective and individual in the group; just as each member of the warship, in addition to having the corresponding professional ability and skills in different positions, it is more important to be able to work together and take care of the individual and the group, so as to sail smoothly on the sea or in the sea. This is the only way to be able to sail smoothly on the sea or to operate in a difficult environment, and then to have the ability to fight in the war. Commander Tang hoped that after joining the Navy, the students would realize that they are no longer just individuals, but a great team, just like every alumnus and advancement, no matter how long they have been graduated, they are still passionate about the Navy and give their heart and soul to the Navy.
Finally, Commander Tang encouraged us all to work together to “Defend sea, Defend home” to protect our beloved family members and the existing peaceful lifestyle in the face of increasing threats, and to be a key force in the spirit of “Cultivating first-class talents to build a first-class navy”.
